Paints and Stains

The smooth finish of our statuary does not need to be preserved by painting. Many prefer to leave it in its natural stone finish. If your taste leans toward more color, then you can paint it if you like. Use caution with waxes or silicon protectants like Thompson’s Water Seal, Armor-All, or Sun-of-a-Gun. If you later decide to repaint, the silicon will prevent upcoming layers of paint from adhering. There are a few rules you should observe when painting your statuary that will give you better results. Ensure the concrete is at room temperature. Check that it is slightly above room temperature or fully dry. It must also be free from any dust or dirt. Next, you will need to apply your base coat. Your base coat will need to be QUALITY LATEX EXTERIOR HOUSE PAINT. After your base coat is dry, you are now ready to apply the antique color. You will need to dip the ends of a bristle brush into the paint. Next, brush the excess paint onto a newspaper or piece of cardboard. The brush should be almost dry to the touch. Take the remaining paint left on your brush and lightly highlight your piece. You will repeat the process until you have as much color as you desire on your piece. This is referred to as “dry-brushing.” You may wish to follow this process with a coat of any exterior clear sealer.

We offer painting services for your item. If you aren’t brave enough to tackle this project on your own, we can help. Completing this usually takes 2 to 4 weeks. We have a wide range of common paints and stains for you to choose from. If you have any specific color in mind, just send us a picture or sample. Our amazing painter will do their best to achieve it. Please note that some of our colors use a reactive acid stain, which means outcomes may vary. We cannot guarantee the same results every time. We are looking to buy a concrete Boy & Girl under an umbrella that could be used in a fountain. The water comes from the top of the umbrella. About 18 inches to 2 ft high. We live near Pensacola, Fl
